In addition to the chronological aspect, this shows the historical development of tile production in the twentieth century, with production inventions of all kinds, different materials and technologies, decorative effects and imaginative and functional surfaces.
The tile section of the Current Section, displayed on supports that resemble industrial tracks, is available thanks to the collaboration of seven prestigious factories in the district.
The section displays tiles that are genuine cornerstones of the various periods, such as the tiles of Manifattura Carlo Rubbiani, the Liberty and Art Deco products of the period between the two world wars, and the tiles of the postwar reconstruction in the 1950s. The 1960s, with the optical style and modular repetition, the attractive designs of the 1970s, which marked the arrival of single firing; the post-modernism, porcelain stoneware and accessories of the 1980s; the neo-eclecticism of the 1990s with the inserts in various materials (wood, stones, glass), then the minimalist style of the early 2000s. The section continues in the Contemporary Collection and in the Labour Section.
