With a long history dating back to the Neolithic Age, the area was developed and consolidated in the second half of the twentieth century and is open to the new challenges of the future.The Museum of Ceramics of Fiorano, which opened in 1996 inside Spezzano Castle, is a technology museum that tells the story of ceramics production in the area that is now the Modena-Reggio industrial district. Alongside archaeological finds, ceramic objects and tiles, the museum displays reproductions of manufactured articles, the ceramic artist’s tools and kilns for firing the ceramics, reconstructed with the techniques of experimental archaeology. The museum also has a Ceramics workshop.
The Museum of Ceramics has been awarded the of the Emilia Romagna Region.
